In both the House and the Senate most of the floor time this early in the session will be dedicated to ‘technical’ activities. Constitutionally, legislation has a very defined flow that it must follow. You will see a very large volume of bills that move across the House and Senate floors, but this is only procedural steps for all legislation to flow through. Keep in mind that the “first reading†of bills is nothing more than an early procedural step for a bill to be assigned to a committee. Just because a bill is read on the floor does not mean it will pass and become law.
MFN will monitor floor activities and report on a variety of bills that we will be following through the multiple stages of legislative process. This way you will be able to track the flow of key legislation, as it moves through the capital.
