Jefferson City This week, State Senator Holly Rehder officially filed to be on the Republican Primary ballot for Missouri Lt. Governor. In the midst of a crowded primary field, Holly Rehder emerges as a dynamic conservative breaking through against a backdrop of moderate Republican contenders. Recent polling data from Missouri Scout underscores Rehder’s commanding lead in the Republican Primary for Missouri Lieutenant Governor.

“As I officially file to be on the ballot for the Republican Primary, I am driven by a deep-seated commitment to protecting sacred Christian and Conservative values for all Missourians. My journey from humble beginnings to the Missouri Senate has been fueled by a passion for positive change coupled with a strong backbone. I am proud of my conservative track record championing reforms that uplift every Missourian, not just the select few. With a lifetime of Christian dedication and a relentless pursuit of doing what’s right, regardless of who disapproves, I stand ready to serve Missouri as Lt. Governor with integrity and unwavering dedication,” said Rehder.

Senator Holly Rehder is making significant strides in the Missouri State Senate with her focus on crucial legislative initiatives. Advocating for military veterans, Senator Rehder successfully pushed forward Senate Bill 768, aiming to expand access to healing therapies like psilocybin for veterans grappling with PTSD and depression. She emphasized the importance of supporting those who have sacrificed for the nation’s freedoms and expressed gratitude for veteran witnesses who testified in favor of the bill.

Additionally, Senator Rehder’s efforts include passing bills such as the Save Women’s Sports Act, requiring students in competitive sports to play on the team of their biological gender at birth. She also is advancing bills addressing human trafficking by ending child marriage in Missouri, protecting foster children by ensuring they receive their Social Security benefits and that they are not kept in the system longer than needed by supporting reunification efforts for families affected by substance misuse.

Senator Rehder’s dedication to addressing issues that are affecting Missouri families once again this year underscores her commitment to serving with integrity and compassion, bringing hope for positive change in the state. Quitting school at 15 to help take care of her family, Rehder is quick to say it is conservative ideals, and the fact that we live in America, that allowed her to work her way out of poverty. She believes that same opportunity is available for others. Rehder has yet to back down from a fight; this race will be no different.

Automobile Dealers Association endorse Kehoe for governor https://themissouritimes.com/automobile-dealers-association-endorse-kehoe-for-governor/ Tue, 22 Nov 2022 00:38:35 +0000 https://themissouritimes.com/?p=77335 The Missouri Automobile Dealers Association (MADA) have endorsed current Lt. Gov. Mike Kehoe in his bid for governor in 2024.

The Missouri Automobile Dealers Association (MADA) has endorsed current Lt. Gov. Mike Kehoe in his bid for governor in 2024. Kehoe has served as Missouri’s Lieutenant Governor since 2018. He was elected to the position in 2020.

“It’s an honor to receive the early support of MADA and its members,” Kehoe said. “Each day Missouri’s auto industry and our dealers help drive our economy by contributing thousands of jobs and delivering billions of dollars in economic impact to our state. I am proud to stand with them and all small business owners to fight for common sense policies that build a better Missouri for our job creators and working families.”

MADA represents a plethora of automotive retailers and car dealerships across the state.

“Mike Kehoe understands our business, and small business as a whole, like no other elected official in the State of Missouri,” said Doug Smith, President of MADA. “I have known and worked with Mike since his time in public office, and he’s one of the best, most effective statesmen I have ever seen. This decision was extremely easy for us. While campaign endorsements are not a typical practice of the 84-year-old private industry trade association, it is a unique opportunity and privilege to endorse one of our very own dealers.”

This endorsement is Kehoe’s 12th in total. He has received a slew of endorsements from a wide range of groups. Thus far he has received endorsements from some of the largest agriculture groups, such as the Missouri Soybean Association, the Missouri Corn Grower’s Association and the Missouri Cattlemen’s Association. He has also received other endorsements from groups representing businesses and trades, including the Associated General Contractors of Missouri and the Missouri Fraternal Order of Police.

Kehoe, a republican is seeking the gubernatorial nomination as well as State Senator Bill Eigel. However, many expect Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft to join the race next year. While no democrat has announced their intentions to run there is speculation that House Minority Leader Crystal Quade and Kansas City Mayor Quentin Lucas are considering a run.

Gov. Mike Kehoe in the 2024 gubernatorial race.

The Missouri Corn Growers Association (MCGA) announced its endorsement of Lt. Gov. Mike Kehoe in the 2024 gubernatorial race.

This endorsement from MCGA comes over two years before the next election for governor, yet they are not the first organization to endorse Kehoe in this race. Organizations like the Fire Fighter Association of Missouri (FFAM), the Missouri Agribusiness Association (MO-AG) the Missouri Cattlemen Association, and the Missouri Soybean Association have all already announced their early endorsements for Kehoe.

“Agriculture is fortunate to have a champion like Lieutenant Governor Mike Kehoe,” said MCGA President Jay Schutte of Benton City. “A respected statesman with a strong track record of support, not to mention a farmer himself, it was an easy decision to endorse Mike Kehoe in his race to become the 58th governor of Missouri. He understands the corn and ethanol industries and uses that knowledge to help keep Missouri farmers competitive. His commonsense approach and ability to create partnerships make Mike Kehoe the right person to continue leading our state forward. The Missouri Corn Growers Association is proud to endorse Mike Kehoe in this upcoming election.”

As a membership-based organization representing corn farmers across the state, MCGA supports candidates with proven records on policy issues impacting corn growers.

In order to receive an endorsement from MCGA, Kehoe had to meet certain standards established by the board of directors, a governing body comprised of 14 corn growers throughout Missouri. These standards include a strong voting record on MCGA’s top issues, as well as being a recipient of the organization’s esteemed Public Servant Award, which Kehoe was awarded in 2015.

“As a first-generation farmer, I am proud to receive this important endorsement for governor from the Missouri Corn Growers Association,” Lt. Governor Kehoe said. “Year after year, our hard-working corn growers make Missouri a top producer in the country which grows our economy. Together we will work to identify greater opportunities to make our state even more competitive and the best place in the country for agriculture. Claudia and I want to thank all of Missouri’s farmers who work tirelessly in the fields to feed our country and the world.”

MCGA was formed in 1978 to advance policies that will help protect the rights of farmer-members, build new markets for corn, and increase opportunities through partnerships within agriculture and beyond.

Nov. 3, 2020 was an amazing night for Missouri Republicans. It’s the kind of night that is about more than one candidate or one issue; it was the kind of night that speaks to the dominance of a brand.
There was another Nov. 3, one 28 years ago in 1992 when the Democratic Party started a 20 year run as the natural party of government in Missouri. Last night, the Republican Party, with supermajorities returned in the legislature and a full statewide slate, re-elected in landslides the natural party of government in the Show-Me State.
Gov.Mike Parson won by 17 percent, but let’s look a little deeper at the numbers.
Parson tripled the margin of victory from the 2016 governor’s race while seeing the top of the ticket drop 4 percent.
This against a very qualified and fully-funded opponent. And he did it with every dollar of his campaign and his PAC being disclosed. At this point, he is literally more transparent than the media covering him.
Nicole Galloway was qualified to be governor and is a good person. However, I will say that her campaign seemed a little bland. There was a DGA cookie cutter element to it. For instance, she never hit Parson on the legislation allowing Chinese companies to own more Missouri farmland. That attack has worked nearly everywhere it’s been tried.
I think they key point in the race was when Governor Parson tested positive for covid. His response with the videos was outstanding and probably put the race away at that point.
One thing about being the leader of a decimated party is that there is no one to challenge her as its leader. There is a Senate race coming up in two years that she still has first dibs on the nomination for. She has the ability to sit back and wait and see if former Gov. Eric Greitens enters that primary before she has to make her decision. If he does then that race will look a lot more appealing to democrats.
The biggest win of the night for the GOP was probably Congresswoman Ann Wagner’s re-election — and by a comfortable margin. Many had written this race off. Even the Cook Political Report moved it to Lean Democrat before Election Day. Her 7 percent win was almost an upset, and now she can remake that district to be even more Republican friendly.
Some, even my pal David Barklage, thought the House Republicans could lose more than a half dozen seats. However, they only lost one seat, proving their effectiveness and that maybe you probably shouldn’t hire a babysitter from Lee’s Summit. Those folks have a creepy look about them right now.
In the Senate, Andrew Koenig not only won, but won by nearly 10 percent. He was massively outspent. Hell, Don Draper even endorsed his opponent, but Koenig still won a race where many felt he was doomed. Look, the dude has personally knocked more doors than any elected official in Missouri politics. He earned it.
He also was able to pivot his message after the primary to being pro-police. Probably the most impactful endorsement was the St. Louis County Police Officer’s endorsement. He used it in everything, and it was the right message at the right time. It was also good for

Missouri Right to Life.
They caught some grief over how far-reaching the abortion bill was a couple years ago and thought Koenig would pay for it at the polls. He was hit for it all cycle, and won anyway, bigly.
Sen. Caleb Rowden is probably the only person on earth besides Norm Stewart who could have won that race. Every cycle, he is the underdog, and every cycle, he just wins. That could be the toughest election of his career, and that career could absolutely include the Governor’s Mansion.
You know, the only person I spoke to who predicted this out come was Andy Blunt. His projections were spot on — down to nearly the point.
The lone Democratic bright spot was Rep. Doug Beck holding SD1 in South County. God forbid a moderate white male who is supportive of the police gets nominated by the Democrats. Oh yeah, he will take the very competitive seat from Scott Sifton. Maybe the Democratic establishment should take note. Winning looks fun, maybe they should try it.
Speaking of remarkable feats, congrats to Rep. Dean Plocher on winning the House Floor Leaders race. He is in an incredible position. A very volatile Speaker means he will be at the center of every deal with the Governor’s Office and the Senate. And I have to say, his win is a bit of an upset. Congrats to a truly good guy on a good win. Also shout out to his wife Rebecca
Plocher, a true powerhouse couple. Moreover, in a time when politicians are vilified their relationship is a real example to others just entering politics.
Catch our Show Me Missourah episode in Franklin County with Tim Brinker and our old friend — okay, most of our friend —Dave Hinson. On Sunday, This Week in Missouri Politics will talk about all the highs and lows of the 2020 cycle.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Lt. Gov. Mike Kehoe won Tuesday’s election by a landslide, securing a full term in the lieutenant governor’s office.

Kehoe beat Kansas City Councilwoman Alissia Canady by more than 580,00 votes Tuesday night. From his victory party in Jefferson City, Kehoe thanked supporters and promised to continue working for Missouri.

“Thank you, Missouri. I am humbled and honored you have chosen me to continue serving as your Lieutenant Governor,” Kehoe said on social media. “I will work every day to maintain your trust and confidence and continue moving Missouri forward.”

Kehoe was appointed to the lieutenant governor position in 2018. He served in the Missouri Senate prior to his appointment, beginning in 2010. The latest filings showed $186,000 in his war chest, while his American Dream PAC boasted $450,000.

Canady was a member of the Kansas City Council from 2015 to 2019. She won the Democratic primary in August with 73 percent of the vote. Canady reported nearly $58,000 on hand.

While in office, Kehoe has focused on health care for seniors, veterans, and Missouri businesses. Canady has said she would work on early childhood education and affordable housing.

Election Questions Answered

The Missouri Times spoke with election officials from three counties of varying populations facing similar challenges.

It is crucial that you know your rights when voting. Here are some common questions that the ACLU of Missouri has received from voters and can help you clear up any confusion you had about voting this year in Missouri.

Campaign Trail Mix

When asked about eating on the campaign trail, Sen. John Rizzo hit the nail on the head: “In a tough race, it’s whatever you can get quickly and then get back in the field.”

But when Missouri candidates do find themselves with enough time to grab some grub on the road, what are their go-to options? From vegetables to fast food to fried bologna sandwiches, here’s a look at what some 2020 candidates are consuming on the trail this year.

Missouri voters are invited to participate in a presidential poll in Jefferson City — by purchasing a cookie from Chez Monet in the Capitol.

Owner Joan Fairfax is running the restaurant’s presidential cookie poll this week. Customers can contribute by purchasing a red cookie in favor of President Donald Trump or a blue cookie for Vice President Joe Biden for $1. As of Wednesday, 77 votes had been cast, with Trump leading at 51 cookies.

Money Problems

With less than a week to go until Election Day, a PAC involved in the HD 106 race is the subject of a new complaint filed with the Missouri Ethics Commission.

The complaint alleged the Missouri section of Washington, D.C.-based Make Liberty Win PAC, the Missouri section of a Washington-based PAC, distributed literature promoting Republican Adam Schwadron’s campaign without disclosing the expense with the MEC.

Democratic attorney general candidate Rich Finneran paid delinquent personal property taxes last week, prompting political opponents to question whether he committed perjury after signing the candidate declaration form swearing he had paid all of his taxes to the state of Missouri.
